The Kent Data Group (Formally Kent IP Group) was an Amateur Radio group setup to encourage and promote the use of Amateur TCP/IP & other data modes within Kent and the surrounding areas. The group was funded by membership as well as donations from satisfied users of tools such as NosInst2K and KIPGWIN99 available on this site.

The prime objectives of the group were:

  • To encourage and promote TCP/IP & Data Modes in Kent
  • To provide computer hardware and software for routers serving the needs of group members and others.
  • To provide radio communications equipment for the above routers
  • To publish information of a technical nature relating to Data
  • To represent the interests of members and other amateur radio groups.
  • To co-operate with, and assist other regional Data groups including the exchange of technical information
  • To organise, or assist others in such conventions, meetings etc. as the committee may decide

The group closed in 2002 however the GB7IPH user group continues to maintain IP links in central Kent and support the GB7SV/MB7UK remote router and APRS Digi.
